THREE artifacts that explore topics from three different
mathematical content areas (Geometry, Algebra, Statistics) and demonstrate
competence in using THREE different technologies.
Artifact 1 uses Fathom to explore the statistics of roller coasters using tables, graphs, scatter plots, and calculations. The artifact includes exploration of several different roller coasters, an Instructional Development Plan, a worksheet used for the lesson, and a lesson plan | ![]() |
Artifact 2 uses Geometer's Sketchpad to explore how to divide an island, shaped as an irregular convex quadrilateral, equally among two brothers. Sketchpad allows a teacher or student to construct shapes, find exact measurements, and understand geometry on a more conceptual level. Artifact includes an exploration of the topic, an Instructional Development Plan, and a lesson plan. | ![]() |
Artifact 3 uses TI Inspire to experiment with parabolas in a way that gives the student or teacher a deeper understanding of the properties of parabolas. TI Inspire allows a student/teacher to create graphs with sliders that lets one see how a parabola changes as a certain variable varies. This artifact includes an exploration of parabolas, an Instructional Development Plan, and a lesson plan. | ![]() |
